How it works
A student-led chapter with national support.
The NSLS provides the structure; your students provide the energy. Members progress through a structured five-step member journey, and your advisor spends just 10–20 hours per semester.
The five-step member journey
A structured sequence that develops confident, work-ready graduates. The steps take around ten hours in total, and members typically complete them in one semester.
Orientation
Members start by setting goals and learning how the program builds toward them.
Leadership Training Day
A two-hour interactive session on goal-setting and the core leadership skills members carry through the program and beyond.
Three Speaker Broadcasts
Members learn from nationally recognized speakers such as Adam Grant and Daymond John, on leadership and career. Six are delivered each year.
Three Success Networking Team meetings
Small peer groups (SNTs) meet to set objectives, hold each other accountable, and turn big goals into steps.
Induction
The culmination of the member journey, induction usually takes place in a ceremony recognizing members who completed every step.
Completing the five steps results in induction, the credential members carry to employers and graduate programs. Members can continue afterward into Advanced and Executive coursework. See the program FAQ for the full detail.

Built for administrators
Minimal lift
Advisors contribute 10–20 hours per semester. A trained student executive board leads each chapter, and the NSLS provides the programming.
